, rising unemployment, and economic crisis at the kitchen table, and spent his energy and passion for two years fighting for obama care instead of fighting for jobs for the american people. >> the president faulted romney for being too vague. >> at some point, i think the american people have to ask themselves, is the reason that governor romney is keeping all of these plans to replace secret because they're too good? is it because that somehow middle class families are going to benefit too much from them? no. >> the sharpest exchanges over taxes and deficits. >> he is saying that he is going to pay for by closing loopholes and deductions. the problem that is he's been asked over a hundred times how you would close those deductions and loopholes, and he hasn't been able to identify them. >> everything he said by b. my tax plan is inaccurate. if the tack plan he described was a tax plan i was asked to support i would say absolutely not. i'm not looking for $5 trillion tax cut. i won't put in place a tax cut that adds to the deficit. >> 18 months he's been run on this tax plan, now five

production incentivizing clean energy to create jobs and put people back to work, those aren't goals, those are plans to continue to move this economy forward. look, i also hope that mitt romney will take some of the time paul ryan didn't want to take in his interview this weekend and try to explain the arithmetic behind their budget. paul ryan said it would take too long to explain their budget plan. the problem isn't the time and explanation. it's the math that's involved to make the statements that mitt romney and paul ryan have said line up to being anything close to the truth. and i think that governor romney will likely whether he likes it or not have an opportunity to try to explain how you pay for a $5 trillion tax cut for the wealthy, and not have it end up as every study has shown raising taxes on middle-class families. >> they've come up wait new study today where they say i think with what you could call dynamic scoring, that tax reform will produce economic growth if you want to prebutt that. >> well, you know, andrea, you and i both have been in washington a long

record of barack obama on jobs, on gas prices, on debt management, on energy and compare that to the vision and the ideas for the future that mitt romney has. it's very important. the last couple weeks there's been a little bit of a movement for the president. but listen, speeches don't create jobs. rhetoric doesn't create jobs. good ideas do. and the president, despite his efforts, has failed to help the american people get back to work and i think mitt romney has better ideas. that's what this debate will be about. >> business crill crystal and o republicans have questioned whether mitt romney has been specific about his ideas. here's paul ryan on fox news sunday. >> lowering tax rates by broadening the tax base works. and you can -- >> but i have to -- you haven't given me the math. >> i don't have the time -- it would take me too long to go through all of the math. let me say it this way, you can lower tax rates by 20% across the board, by closing loopholes and still have preferences for the middle class for things like charitable deductions for home purchases, for health care. >

have given a great burst of energy to mitt romney's campaign. >> no question. i would say and we said this when there was polling that had president obama up eight, nine, ten points nationally, let's see where it sorts out at the end of the week or beginning of next week. if you are mitt romney, this is -- the pew poll yesterday was huge news because a lot of what happens here at the end and we are 28 days away, is momentum based. for folks who haven't made their mind up yet you want to look like you're the guy with the momentum. coming off the debate and the pew poll you now can make the case that mitt romney is the guy who is kind of the energy and enthusiasm candidate. i think some polls will come out in places like ohio, virginia, north carolina, florida, hopefully some independent polls in the next few days that i think will get the measure of how much bounce mitt romney got. if those polls suggest him really closing the margin in those states then i think the romney campaign is really on to something. national polling is great and they're happy to have it, but really the problem

energy crisis at that time because there was enough other oil. >> no, andrea, come on. >> let me finish the question. i was reporting this in realtime. >> okay. fair enough. >> what about the multilateral sanctions this administration achieved with the help of getting russia and china on bod which the bush administration was never able to achieve because there was no understanding or no agreement from the u.n. that diplomacy was given some time to work. >> it's great we got multilateral sanctions through the u.n. security council. unfortunately the price we paid for getting china and russia to buy into the sanctions was that the central bank sanctions would not be included. everyone agrees across the political divide in the united states who follow the issue closely that the central bank sanctions are the ones that had the real bite. the administration resisted efforts in congress repeatedly to get sanctions in place. you can cite, as they often do the economic implications. it's not clear to me why there were economic implications in 2009-2010 but not in # 2011-2012 but they sai
